What attracted you to Logica?
I always knew I wanted a career in IT, but I didn’t want to focus solely on the technical side of things. So a career in IT consulting seemed like a good mix of technical expertise and project management. I didn’t want to make any quick decisions though so, after graduating, I temped for a year with a major insurance company who were one of Logica’s clients. I already knew who they were, but being on the client side enabled me to find out more about what they did. It was here that I decided that Logica, and the Financial Services Business was for me.
What have you been up to since you joined?
Even though I joined FSB, the first project I was involved in was an internal one – designing the Logica intranet. As there were just two of us working on it, and I was charged with driving it forward, it was my first experience of real responsibility.
Since then I’ve moved onto a project for Ofsted, working as a Business Analyst on the applications delivery side. We provided them with new software that helps their publications team keep their contacts database up to date. I wrote a proposal for the client, advising them on what solution we’d recommend, then wrote a demonstration of how the programme would work and presented it to the senior members of the Publications team at Ofsted.
What’s next?
I’m really excited about my future here – I’m hoping to move into Project Management and Team Leader roles, and I can definitely see that these roles are within my reach. I’ve also attended a course to enable me to get involved in interviewing graduates, which has been really interesting and enhanced my client management skills as well.
What’s fun?
What I enjoy most about working here is the fact that I’m always learning – both on the job and through the training I receive. Many people here were once fresh graduates and in the same boat, so they know you need to get loads of experience in different areas to learn.
