Routes into Logica

You can join us through our:

Graduate Programme

This is for you if you’re in your final year, or already have a first or second degree, and offers front-line experience on live projects right from the start.

We recruit into specific business areas and locations, but not into fixed roles. So we may not be able to tell you exactly what you’ll be doing when you first join. It’s the kind of environment that suits people who have open minds, welcome the variety they’ll be exposed to and who are ready to make the most of every learning opportunity. There’s no doubt our way of working will encourage you to gain a wide range of skills – and give you the chance to discover which areas of the sector interest you most. Your first few years will teach you a huge amount, and the direction your career takes will largely be influenced by you.

Because of this, flexibility is key – both in the type of work you do and where you work. At any time around 50% of our staff are working on client sites away from their base office. You may not be client-facing during every project, but you will experience life on the client side – and that can mean involvement at any stage or throughout the whole project lifecycle. You might be working with the client to pinpoint the nature of their problem, helping to design, build and test the solution, or rolling out the solution across the business and managing its implementation. There'll be plenty of support throughout from experienced colleagues and the exposure to clients is invaluable, giving you crucial insights into how their business operates. And as your know-how grows, so will your network of contacts and your reputation.

Industrial Placement Programme

This is for students who take an industrial gap year as part of a four-year degree. During your 12 months with us you’ll gain a valuable insight into what it’s like to work in a large, customer-facing IT services company and gain experience that will help you to get even more value from your course. Impress us during your time on placement, and you could even go back to university with an offer of full-time employment on our graduate programme when you finish your degree.

You’ll carry out the same kind of work and gain the same kind of client exposure as our graduate recruits. And as well as practical experience, the industrial placement programme gives you a great opportunity to practice your job-searching skills. Your application form is based on the one used for our graduate programme, and you’ll go through the same assessment and interview process as your graduate colleagues. You’ll also build your understanding of our graduate programme as you’ll spend your first four days in the company completing our graduate induction. What’s more, you’ll develop your networking skills still further during an IP networking event organised specifically to make sure you get the most out of your time with us.

Undergraduate Programme

Our Telco-sponsored undergraduate programme is for students who want to enjoy the best of both the academic and commercial worlds by combining an IT career with study for a BA (Hons) Management (Information Systems). You’ll earn a salary while spending one day a week at the University of Winchester. We’ll also pay all your course fees.

You’ll feel part of the business from day one, when you take part in our four-day induction. As well as all the information you need to settle in, you’ll also get the chance to meet staff from the Telco business and begin building your networks.

Our Telco business is split into eight different teams and, during your time on the course, you’ll gain at least six months’ experience in each of four or more of them. You could be involved in anything from testing applications, systems and software to working on project plans; and from documenting designs and working up performance models to monitoring resources and processing project finances.

Not only will this range of exposure give you a better understanding of the services we provide, it will also help you decide which direction you’d like your career to take once you’ve completed your degree. The experience you gain will also build your confidence in client-facing roles, which is essential for a career in IT consultancy.

The 2008 undergraduate scheme is now closed. Applications for 2009 will open later this year.
