Graduate and Industrial Placement programme requirements

  • The unrestricted right to work in the UK. If we invite you to an assessment centre you’ll need to bring documentary proof of this with you. More information on eligibility to work for Logica in the UK
  • An existing or expected 2:1 or a 2:2 plus relevant experience
  • A first degree or postgraduate qualification in:
    • IT, Computer Science or Software Engineering (or similar)
    • Maths, Physics or another numerical/ logical degree discipline
    • Business or Management Studies, with an element of IT
    • Another subject area, but with a strong understanding of the use of information technology in a business environment

You’ll need a strong background in information technology – including software development skills – plus excellent communication skills and an enthusiasm for customer service. However, you can join some areas of our business with a non-technical degree providing you have a genuine interest in technology. For instance, you’d need to back a business-based degree with a good understanding of the IT marketplace and how IT can be used to provide commercial benefits to businesses.

Although we can offer work across the IT business lifecycle as your career develops, it’s highly likely that your early career will see you working as a tester, programmer, systems analyst or in an IT support role. As a result, a working knowledge of one or more structured programming languages, databases or platforms would be a big advantage. For some roles, practical experience of computer programming is useful. We’d particularly like to hear from people who have relevant work experience and a good understanding of how IT can impact business.

Are you eligible to work for Logica in the UK?

We welcome applications from anyone who is legally entitled to work in the UK without restrictions. But in order to employ you in line with UK employment legislation, we have to confirm that you have the necessary permission to work in the UK.

If we invite you to an assessment centre, we’ll ask you to bring documentary evidence of your right to work in the UK with you. If you can’t satisfy the necessary criteria at this stage, or you have an application to remain in the UK pending, we’re sorry but we won’t be able to proceed with your application.

Documents acceptable as evidence of the right to work in the UK are:

  • a UK or European Economic Area passport;
  • a letter from the immigration authority or a stamp on your passport showing that you have the right to remain and work in the UK.

Due to the large number of applications we get from resident qualified candidates and the fact that we don’t recruit for set job roles we regret that, under current Home Office guidelines, we’re unable to sponsor work permits for graduate roles. This covers candidates joining our graduate recruitment programme who need a work permit immediately; and also those who may be entitled to work in the UK for a short period but will need a work permit in the future – for example those on working holiday visas or with entitlement to remain in the UK for a limited period on schemes such as the Science and Engineering Graduate Scheme.
