Our structure

We work across the whole of the IT business life cycle, providing management and IT consultancy, systems development and integration plus outsourced management of IT and business processes. We do this through five ‘vertical’ businesses serving specific market sectors and two ‘horizontal’ businesses offering knowledge and expertise that’s applicable to all market sectors.

Our ‘vertical’ businesses are:

  • Energy, Utilities & Telecoms (EUT)
  • Financial Services (FSB)
  • Industry, Distribution and Transport (IDT)
  • Public Sector
  • Space and Defence.

Here we work on specific projects, collaborating with our clients to make sure we understand both their sector and how their businesses operate within their sectors. This ensures we deliver solutions that bring real business benefit. It’s not unusual for the ‘vertical’ businesses to work together as, increasingly, clients are asking us to solve problems which demand expertise from a number of sectors. Thanks to our breadth, we can meet these challenges head on.

Our ‘horizontal’ businesses are:

  • Global Service Delivery (GSD)
  • Enterprise Services.

Each works across all our ‘vertical’ markets and provides a range of IT and business solutions. These include service delivery and infrastructure support, business process outsourcing, SAP/HR payroll processing and applications management.

Our ‘horizontal’ businesses offer a range of roles and development routes, good prospects and the chance to work with all of the ‘vertical’ sectors on different assignments.

What our structure means for you

You’ll start off in one of our business areas. But the size and reach of our operations mean we can offer a variety of career paths – and we have an internal job market that keeps you up to date with all the opportunities available.

This job market helps us handle business peaks and troughs more effectively – and gives you greater flexibility by making it easier to work in different areas as your career progresses. Moving between businesses gives you the chance to pick up new domain experience and develop transferable skills. It also makes life a lot more interesting.

In the early stages you’re likely to be involved in technical areas like systems analysis, programming, testing and support. Later on, as long as you balance your aspirations with our business needs, you’ll be able to determine your own career path. This could take in any stage of the business life cycle from business consultancy through system design and development, implementation and integration, testing and support to training, applications management and service operation and support.
